Council Candidate Organizes Two Events: Community Barbecue, Addiction Recovery Discussion
WARSAW — City Council candidate Sara McNeal-Strahan Lenfestey has organized two upcoming events that are open to the public.
She’s hosting a community barbecue Friday, Aug. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Beyer Park. The event is a fundraiser for her campaign. Food and drinks will be served and entertainment will be provided by DJ Ray Cruz.
Meals will be available. Hotdog dinners are $5 and hamburger meals are $7.
Also available will be a limited amount of school supplies for those in need.
Beyer Park is on Arthur Street and along Pike Lake in Warsaw.
She’s also organized a public event to learn more about addiction and recovery.
“A Night of Hope and Recovery” will be at 6 p.m., Sept. 12, at the Shrine Building at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds in Warsaw.
The event will feature a talk by Tommy Streeter, a recovering addict, as well as his mother, Jen. Representatives from other local recovery groups will also participate.
Dinner will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
“I encourage everyone who is passionate about mental health and addiction issues to come out to the Shrine Building Sept. 12,” McNeal-Strahan Lenfestey said.
She said the Sept. 12 event is not a campaign fundraiser.
McNeal-Strahan Lenfestey, a Democrat, is running for the District 1 city council seat and will face incumbent Republican Jeff Grose in the Nov. 5 election.
