Get Your Bid In On Chair Auction
SYRACUSE — Have you put in your bid yet for one of these fabulous chairs? There is still time. Winners will be announced at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 1 at Syracuse Public Library adult floor. The six chairs each depict the works of different authors and are done by five local artists.
Local artists and the authors chosen are: Emily Austin,The Lord of the Ring series, J. R. R. Tolkier; Susie Brandes, Cat in the Hat, Dr. Seuss; Phil Rich Oest, Shel Silverstein’s work, and Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling; Debi Hayes, Alice in Wonderland series, Lewis Carroll; and Tammy Kratzer, Where the Wild Things Are, Maurice Sendak.
Wouldn’t your kids or grandkids love one of these chairs. Bid often and keep up with the action until 6 p.m. Thursday. The artists donated their talent, time and materials to transform these chairs, probably from when the library first opened.
The auction is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Syracuse-Turkey Creek Township Public Library and will be used to support programming and items needed. The FOL Book Sale is also going on from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 in the lower level and from 10 a.m.- noon, Friday, Aug. 2. Another way to assist the library.
