Parkview Warsaw Speaker Will Address Sports Injuries Related To ‘Overuse’
WARSAW – In today’s youth sports, kids are specializing in one particular sport at a younger and younger age.
Join Aaron Watters, MD, Parkview Physicians Group – Sports Medicine, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at the Parkview Warsaw Center for Healthy Living as he discusses the risks of specializing in one sport as well as the best ways to avoid and prevent overuse injuries in young athletes.
The growth of organized youth sports has made it possible for kids as young as 7 or 8 to play a singular sport all year long. While this may give young athletes a chance to gain advanced skills at a younger age, they are also at a greater risk for overuse injuries. This is due in part to the sheer number of repetitive motions their bodies are making and the fact that, unlike previous generations, specialized athletes no longer have a chance to rest in an “off-season” or utilize different body mechanics in a different sport.
There is no cost to attend this discussion, but registration is encouraged. To reserve your seat, please call 844-835-0003.
The Parkview Warsaw Center for Healthy Living is located inside the Parkview Warsaw YMCA at 1305 Mariners Drive, Warsaw.
