Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
10:32 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, US 30, Warsaw. Driver: Debra L. Wood, 52, Old SR 13, Pierceton. Wood was attempting to turn around in the lot of 2535 E. US 30. As she got past the gas pump, she began to turn right but did not clear the island barrier and her vehicle struck the barrier. Damage up to $10,000.
1:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Driver: Abdul G. Al-Shawi, 54, Elmwood Street, Garden City, Mich. As Al-Shawi began to drive his truck away from a loading dock, his truck sideswiped a vehicle parked beside him. Damage up to $1,000.
1:09 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Drivers: Caleigh A. Byrer, 17, North CR 650W, Warsaw; and Madison J. Vogler, 18, Sassafras Court, Warsaw. Byrer said she was exiting the parking lot onto Meijer Drive and did not see Vogler’s vehicle eastbound on Meijer Drive. When Byrer made a left turn into the intersection, the vehicles collided. Damage up to $5,000.
9:11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, East Main Street and North Buffalo Street, Warsaw. Driver: Yvonne Bokleman, 61, Kearney Street, Denver, Colo. Bokleman stated she was distracted by a group of people protesting south of her location as she was traveling south on Buffalo Street. She turned too wide to the right and struck a parked vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
1:47 p.m. Sunday, July 21, Jefferson Street, Silver Lake. Driver: Kenneth R. Shepherd, 63, East CR 1450N, North Manchester. Shepherd’s vehicle struck a post while backing out of a parking space at the root beer stand in Silver Lake. Damage up to $2,500.
Elkhart
Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
- 4:27 p.m. Monday, July 22, U.S. 6 and C.R. 13, Nappanee. Drivers: Courtney Anglemyer, 18, Nappanee; Nancy Canull, 77, Indianapolis; and Brandon King, 29, Fort Wayne. Anglemyer’s vehicle was southbound on C.R. 13 and failed to yield the right of way when crossing U.S. 6. Anglemyer’s vehicle collided with the driver’s side of Canull’s vehicle as Canull was driving eastbound on U.S. 6. Anglemyer’s vehicle then spun into the path of King’s vehicle which was also eastbound on U.S. 6. King’s vehicle collided with the passenger side of Anglemyer’s vehicle. Nicole Wisemann, 35, New Carlisle, a passenger in King’s vehicle, was transported to Goshen Hospital with complaints of back and abdomen pain. Anglemyer was cited for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection.
