Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
1:10 p.m. Friday, July 19, South SR 15, north of West CR 600S, Claypool. Drivers: Caitlynne R. Bradley, 23, Lakeland Drive, Warsaw; and Linda S. Crooks, 67, North Maple Drive, Warsaw. Both Bradley and Crooks were traveling north on SR 15 when Crooks began to pull her vehicle over to the side of the roadway to check on a pedestrian walking alongside the roadway. Bradley was going to pass Crooks’ vehicle but had to swerve back into the north lane of travel due to a vehicle traveling south. This caused Bradley’s vehicle to rear-end Crooks’. Damage up to $25,000.
10:14 a.m. Friday, July 19, East CR 450N and North CR 475E, North Webster. Drivers: Leslie E. Oakes, 58, EMS B22 Lane, Pierceton; Cindie A. Dale, 59, EMS B42E Lane, Leesburg. Oakes told police she was driving her vehicle south on CR 475E and stated she did not see the vehicle driven by Dale before proceeding into the intersection with CR 450N and striking the vehicle driven by Dale. Damage up to $10,000.
North Webster
Officers from the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:06 p.m. Friday, July 19, North SR 13, north of East Esterbrook Drive, North Webster. Drivers: Jennifer A. Ducey, 49, EMS W26 Lane, North Webster; Sonia N. Sanchez Mejia, 24, East CR 200N, Warsaw; Steven D. Lecount, 54, Green Hill Drive, Warsaw. Ducey told police she was driving her vehicle south on SR 13 and that a vehicle ahead proceeded to turn, causing her to brake suddenly. She said her vehicle struck the vehicle driven by Lecount and then her vehicle was struck from behind by the vehicle driven by Sanchez Melia. Damage up to $25,000.
Syracuse
Officers from the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:29 p.m. Thursday, July 18, North Huntington and Henry streets, Syracuse. Driver: Valinda K. Jones, 37, Walter Way, Warsaw. Jones told police she was driving her vehicle northbound on North Huntington Street when two juveniles ran into the path of her vehicle. She braked her vehicle, but could not avoid hitting the second juvenile, a 12-year-old boy, who complained of hip and upper leg pain and was transported to a nearby hospital. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
12:19 a.m. Sunday, July 21, SR 15, south of East Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Ramakrishna Bajaj, 26, Briar Ridge Circle, Warsaw; Virginia D. Stephens, 67, West Justus Stephens Lane, Claypool. Ramakrishna told police he was traveling south on SR 15 and was stopped at the light with Winona Avenue. He said he did not see the vehicle driven by Stephens and proceeded into the intersection to turn and that his vehicle collided with the vehicle driven by Stephens. Damage up to $5,000.
6:28 p.m. Saturday, July 20, East Old Road 30 and US 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Curtis K. Bryant, 53, West Cleveland Avenue, Elkhart; Russell E. Reichard, 73, 15B Road, Bourbon. Bryant told police he was distracted by using his cell phone and that he turned his vehicle into the path of the vehicle driven by Reichard. Bryant left the scene of the accident, according to police, and was located a short while later where it was learned by police he has a suspended driver’s license. Damage up to $10,000.
2:17 p.m. Saturday, July 20, North Indiana Street, north of East Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: T.A. Wilson, 45, West CR 300N, Warsaw; Debra A Bradford, 56, Chestnut Street, Winona Lake. Wilson told police he pulled his vehicle out of a parking space and that he did not see the vehicle driven by Bradford, causing him to drive his vehicle into Bradford’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
9:44 a.m. Saturday, July 20, Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Drivers: Lisa M. Sisco, 38, West Lukens Lake Road, Laketon; Goldie J. Meade, 55, South CR 600W, Warsaw. Sisco told police she was pulling her vehicle out of a parking lot and that she had not seen the vehicle driven by Meade before pulling out, causing her vehicle to collide with the vehicle driven by Meade. Damage up to $2,500.
6:10 p.m. Friday, July 19, East Winona Avenue and South Maple Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Joshua A. Turner, 19, Wood Street, Winona Lake; Katrina R. Hardebeck, 33, Brooks Drive, Nappanee. Turner told police he was driving his vehicle east on Winona Avenue and was following the vehicle driven by Hardebeck. He said Hardebeck stopped suddenly in front of him at the same time he’d looked away briefly and that he was unable to stop his vehicle before it collided with the rear of the vehicle driven by Hardebeck. Damage up to $5,000.
3:08 p.m. Friday, July 19, Jalynn Street and Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. Drivers: Robert D. Myers, 80, East CR 225S, Warsaw; Kevin J. Sliter, 50, North CR 900W, Cromwell. Myers told police he was driving his vehicle on Walton Boulevard and said he did not see the vehicle driven by Sliter. He said he turned his vehicle to the east and that his vehicle struck the vehicle driven by Sliter. Damage up to $5,000.
