KOSCIUSKO — Two Leesburg men were arrested after allegedly battering a man.
Jacob Dakota Henson, 23; and Steven Gibson, 27, both of 211 E. Prairie St., Leesburg; are being charged with battery, a class A misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor.
On July 1, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a physical fight between three men in Leesburg. A witness said two men were attacking a third man. The two men, later identified as Henson and Gibson, left the scene on foot, according to court paperwork.
Upon arrival at the scene, the officer spoke with the man who was battered. The officer noticed the man had a swollen right eye and split lower lip. The battered man said Gibson and Henson were the people who assaulted him. The officer asked if the man would take a portable breath test as he was slurring his speech. However, due to his injured lip, the man could not take a PBT.
Security camera footage at a nearby residence showed Henson hitting the man in the face and Gibson stomping on the man’s face and head. The man was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital and after being medically cleared, he was arrested for public intoxication.
Gibson and Henson were booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on July 1, with $600 cash bonds.
