Annual Pow Wow Aug. 9-11 In Columbia City
COLUMBIA CITY — The 24th annual Mihsihkinaahkwa Pow Wow will be held the second weekend in August in Morsches Park, Columbia City.
The three-day event from Aug. 9-11 celebrates our Native American heritage and offer a glimpse into the past in understanding the important role they had in forming the history of Indiana.
The event offers Native American products of art, food and crafts for purchase.
Activities begin at 5 p.m. Friday. A “Soarin’ Hawk Raptors” demonstration begins at 6 .m.
A silent auction will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 pm and continues on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. All vendors will be open. A Miami Stomp Dance will be held at 7 p.m. Friday.
On Saturday, gates open at 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Soarin’ Hawk Raptors will have a demonstration 10 am to 12 noon.
In the family tent, we will have a beading demonstration from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Grand Entry dancing is at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Sunday is Children’s Day from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Art, crafts, stories and games are planned. Grand Entry dancing is from noon to 4 p.m. Parking is free and handicap parking is available.
Admission is $4 and children under 12 are free.
This is a family event, no drugs, alcohol or pets.
