Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
11:25 a.m. Monday, July 8, Packerton Road, south of East Pierceton Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Barbara E. Gauger, Woodfield Trail, Warsaw; and Daniel L. Gehrke, 65, Packerton Road, Warsaw. Gauger was turning south onto Packerton Road and struck the side of Gehrke’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
11:21 p.m. Saturday, July 6, East CR 1290N, west of North Bishop Road, Cromwell. Driver: Aryel M. Landeros, 19, Street of Dreams, Cromwell. KCSO was contacted regarding an injury crash that occurred earlier. An officer investigated the accident which occurred just west of North Bishop Road. The officer went to the scene and saw visible skid marks indicating the vehicle went off the south side of the road and into some trees. The officer made contact with Landeros, who had been taken to Parkview Hospital due to head pain. When asked why she did not call the police when the accident occurred, Landeros said she freaked out and called her father instead. Damage up to $2,500.
4:56 p.m. Saturday, July 6, Country Club Road, north of Winona Beach Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Hal D. May, 56, Lynnwood Drive, Warsaw. May’s vehicle hit a dip in the road and left the roadway, striking some trees. Damage up to $5,000.
12:32 p.m. Saturday, July 6, North CR 300E, south of East Bowser Road, Syracuse. Drivers: Cooper L. Stutzman, 51, East CR 450N, Warsaw; and Amber R. Koebcke, 34, North Syracuse-Webster Road, Syracuse. Stutzman was southbound on CR 300E, behind Koebcke’s vehicle. Stutzman attempted to pass Koebcke’s vehicle and in doing so, cut over to the right due to an oncoming vehicle that was approaching from the south. Stutzman’s vehicle struck Koebcke’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
1:51 p.m. Friday, July 5, SR 15, south of Turkey Creek Drive, Milford. Driver: Anna R. Kearney, 25, US Highway 6, New Paris. As Kearney was going around a curve in the road she drove out of her lane, striking a guard rail. Kearney told police she was reaching for Kleenex on her passenger seat when she lost control of the vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
8:03 p.m. Thursday, July 11, US 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Raymundo P. Flores, 47, 1 Juarez, Mexico; and Debra Hayes, 57, Hays-Mays Road, Perryville, Ky. Flores’ vehicle rear-ended Hayes’ vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
5:13 p.m. Thursday, July 11, Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Driver: Braxton A. Goldsmith, 19, 2nd Street, Winona Lake. Goldsmith stated he was in the parking lot of Mosthigh Studios. He stated he depressed the clutch and started his vehicle, then pressed the accelerator and released the clutch, believing it was not in gear. The vehicle lurched forward, over a parking bumper, onto a sidewalk and struck a pedestrian, then struck the Mosthigh Studios building. The pedestrian was trapped between the front bumper of Goldsmith’s vehicle and the building. The pedestrian, identified as Elsie Foote, 28, Market Street, Kokomo, appeared to have severe leg injuries and was taken to Lutheran in Fort Wayne by Medic 2. Goldsmith appeared to be in shock and was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage up to $100,000.
