Stillsons Continue To Get It Done
NAPPANEE – It might be the “offseason”, but the Stillsons are continuing to work at a high level.
Summer Stillson was recently recognized among the top academic golfers in the country with a listing among the Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars. Younger sister Cybil is also achieving in the golf world, winning the age group championship as a part of Indiana Junior Golf.
Summer, heading into her junior year with Saint Marys College, was named one of near 1,100 women’s golfers from around the country in all classifications to earn the academic honor. To earn All-American status, golfers much achieve at least a 3.5 GPA in the classroom and be in good standing (active roster) in its golf program. Belles teammate Hannah Finley was also named to the list. A 2017 NorthWood High School graduate, Summer helped the Belles to a 14th place landing at the NCAA Division III National Championships this spring, shooting an 80 on the final day.
Cybil, preparing for her sophomore season at NorthWood High School, recently fired a 84-83-167 to finish second in the Age Group Championship event at Swan Lake in Plymouth. Last week, Cybil won an Age Group tournament to win her age division, tops for all 15 year-olds in the state. As a freshman for the Panthers, Cybil was the team’s top golfer, culminating with a medalist finish at the Northern Lakes Conference Championship and a 13th-place finish at the IHSAA State Finals where NorthWood finished 10th as a team, it’s highest-ever placing for the program.
