Pete O’Connell
Pete O’Connell, 75, Winona Lake, passed away Monday, July 8, 2019, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Fort Wayne. He was born in Warsaw.
Pete O’Connell proudly served his country in Vietnam, as a Marine. After his service, he indulged his wanderlust and traveled the country he loved so much. He was an amazing father, grandfather, and compassionate friend. He was an avid jokester and enjoyed lifting up those around him.
His strong work ethic was demonstrated most notably with the town of Winona Lake.
Pete O’Connell is survived by a daughter Stacey O’Connell (wife Casandra Harding) of Charleston, S.C.; and a grandson Jacob Henry. Also, surviving are his brother Charles (wife Patsy) Summerlot and three sisters, Bonnie (husband Kirk) Liggett, Linda Summerlot and Cinda Sue (husband William) Varney.
A memorial service will be held at the pavilion outside the Winona Lake Community Center, which he loved so much, at 5:30 p.m., Friday, July 12. Friends can meet with the family prior to the service from 3:00 PM until the time of the service at the pavilion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family or donations made in Pete’s name to the American Heart Association.
