Syracuse Residents Involved In New Paris Fatal Crash
NEW PARIS — Syracuse residents were involved in a two-vehicle fatal crash southeast of New Paris Saturday night, June 22. The accident was at 8:44 p.m. at CR 48 and CR 127.
Harry Wells, 39, Syracuse, driver of one of the vehicles, died as a result of the crash.
Howard Lehman, 44, driver of the second vehicle; and passengers, Marlene Lehman, 45; Ashlyn Lehman and Austin Lehman, both 9 years old; and Alisha Lehman, 12, all of Syracuse, suffered minor injures. Howard Lehman and Alisha Lehman complained of pain. Marlene Lehman, complained of pain to the neck; Ashlyn Lehman, suffered minor hand injuries and Austin Lehman complained of pain to the head. They were all transported to Goshen Hospital.
Donya Tam, 26, Elkhart, a passenger in Wells’ vehicle suffered minor lacerations and complained of pain in the neck. She was also transported to Goshen Hospital.
Elkhart County Sheriff’s Deputies report Wells was traveling northbound on CR 127 in a 2010 Chevrolet Impala and went through the intersection of CR 48, hitting Lehman’s eastbound 2004 Dodge Ram.
The crash is under investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team.
New Paris Fire Department and EMS, along with Turkey Creek Fire Territory Paramedics responded to the scene.
