Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
6:51 p.m. Friday, June 21, Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Karen S. Thomas, 78, Sharon Street, Winona Lake; and Mary E. McNeely, 58, Tepee Drive, Warsaw. Thomas said she was stopped at a stop sign, waiting to turn right onto Old Road 30. She advised there was a backup of traffic from the light with Lake City Highway, and that a male in a vehicle left an opening and waved her out. Thomas stated she pulled off of Kosciusko Drive to try and go straight across Lake City Highway when she struck the side of McNeely’s vehicle which was already traveling in the straight lane to cross Lake City Highway. Damage up to $2,500.
2:23 p.m. Friday, June 21, North Parker Street, Warsaw. Driver: Mercedes N. Winkelman, 18, Meadow Ridge Drive, Warsaw. Winkelman’s vehicle was struck while she was backing out of a parking space at Culver’s. Another vehicle was also backing out and collided with Winkelman’s vehicle, then left the scene. Damage up to $5,000.
