Milford Man Arrested For Battery To A Pregnant Woman
MILFORD — A Milford man was recently arrested after police say he battered a pregnant woman and left the scene in her vehicle.
Austin Samual Wood, 21, 305 Ulrich Drive, Milford, is being charged with battery causing bodily injury to a pregnant woman, a level 5 felony; domestic battery with a child present, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
At 6:10 p.m. on May 31, an officer with the Milford Police Department responded to a domestic battery complaint. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to Woods. Woods advised that he and a female were arguing and he attempted to leave the residence but the female had closed the door on his arm and leg.
The officer then spoke with the female who also advised that she and Wood were arguing. The female advised that Wood attempted to leave in her vehicle and she shut the door to prevent him from leaving. The female told the officer that Wood had removed a part from her vehicle so that it wouldn’t run.
Both Wood and the female agreed that neither one should be charged and the officer left the scene.
At 6:55, the officer received another call to respond to the same residence. At this point, the female advised that Wood had pushed her down on the floor, choked her and struck her in the face and stomach. The female also told the officer that Wood had “clawed” her arm, causing it to bleed. The officer was able to observe cuts and bruises on the female’s neck and arms.
The female further advised that Wood had taken her car keys and left the area. The female was 30 weeks pregnant at the time of the incident and another child was present during the altercation.
Woods has since been released on his own recognizance.
