WARSAW — A Warsaw man is facing charges after allegedly applying for multiple credit cards using a female’s identifying information.
Joseph James Lambert, 28, 201 S. Detroit St. 124, Warsaw, is being charged with three counts of identity deception, all level 6 felonies
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on April 25, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department met with a female who advised that she received a letter, dated April 18, from American Express stating that an application for an American Express gold card, using her identifying information, was denied. The female informed the officer she did not apply for the credit card.
The female told the officer she suspected Lambert because he wrote down all of her identifying information when he sold her insurance. She informed police that Lambert resides at 201 S. Detroit Street in Warsaw.
On May 2, the same female returned to the police station with two additional letters. The letters were from Wells Fargo and Capital One. Both were letters of denial for applications for credit cards. The female stated she did not apply for these credit cards. She contacted Wells Fargo and was informed that the address used on the application was 201 S. Detroit Street in Warsaw and that Lambert was listed as an authorized user for the account. The application listed the female as the applicant.
Lambert was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail June 17 on a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
