Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
2:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, East Pierceton Road, Warsaw. Driver: Alan R. Wuthrich, 80, West CR 100S, Warsaw. Wuthrich told police he was backing his vehicle out of a parking space at Raccoon Run Golf Course when his vehicle struck a parked car he had not seen. Damage up to $5,000.
7:52 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, South SR 13, west of East SR 14, Sidney. Driver: Douglas Andrews, 66, Ione Drive, Fort Wayne. Andrews told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on SR 14 when he entered a construction zone. While passing construction equipment, his vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Damage up to $1,000.
Milford
Officers from the Milford Police Department investigated the following accident:
2:54 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, West Emeline Street, east of Higbee Street, Milford. Drivers: Ellen C. Vandiver, 48, East CR 1150N, Milford; Jeffrey S. Seaver, 51, South Higbee Street, Milford. Vandiver told police she was backing her vehicle out of her parking space and did not see the vehicle driven by Seaver, causing a collision. Damage up to $1,000.
Syracuse
Officers from the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
6:09 a.m. Monday, June 10, Warrior Path, Syracuse. Driver: Zackery T. Elliott, 17, EMS D23 Lane, Syracuse. Elliott told police he had experienced insufficient sleep the prior night and that when entering the Wawasee High School parking lot in his vehicle, he missed the roadway, causing his vehicle to strike a fence. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
7:13 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, North Parker Street, Warsaw. Driver: Brian A. Nault, 44, North CR 350W, Rochester. Nault told police he was backing his vehicle out of a parking space and did not see a parked car behind him, causing his to back his vehicle into the parked vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
3:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, US 30 and North Parker Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Lang A. Johnson, 33, North SR 5, Larwill; Daniel Sandoval, 53, Cherry Street, Winona Lake. Johnson told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on US and was approaching the Parker Street intersection when the vehicle driven by Sandoval stopped suddenly in front of her despite having a green light at the intersection. She could not stop in time to avoid a rear end collision with Sandoval’s vehicle. Both drivers told police Sandoval stopped to accommodate a fire truck approaching the intersection with lights and sirens engaged. Damage up to $5,000.
12:19 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, Frontage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Grant A. Maurer, 23, Wyndmoor Drive, Fort Wayne; Lee L. Walker, 40, South County Farm Road, Warsaw. Maurer told police he was backing his vehicle out of a parking space at Taco Bell when his vehicle collided with the vehicle driven by Walker. Damage up to $2,500.
10:56 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, North CR 150W, south of Executive Drive, Warsaw. Peter W. Sheffer, 32, East Wooster Road, Pierceton; Blake O. Deaton, 31, East CR 700S, Claypool. Sheffer told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on CR 150W when traffic stopped in front of him and he was unable to stop his vehicle before it collided with the rear of Deaton’s vehicle. Damage less than $750.
Winona Lake
Officers from the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
10:22 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, Auditorium Boulevard, Winona Lake. Driver: Mitchell D. Westness, 32, South CR 600W, Warsaw. Westness was driving a garbage truck northbound through an alley when a fire extinguisher on his truck snagged a garbage can and drug the can until it wedged between a house and the truck. The can eventually destroyed an Infinity cable junction box and broke a NIPSCO gas meter, causing a leak. The fire department and NIPSCO were both called to respond to the gas leak. The home owner was not at home at the time of the incident. Damage up to $2,500.
