Betty Jean Eaton
Betty Jean (King) Eaton, 97, Greenville, Ohio, formerly of Dewart Lake, Syracuse, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 7, 2019, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.
She was born on June 2, 1922, in Elwood, to the late James and Marjorie (Jones) King.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Eugene Eaton, whom she married on Feb. 15, 1948; and her brother, Robert King.
She was a faithful follower of Christ, and was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse. Serving in her church consumed much of her time, Circle, Choir, For Fun, and visiting the nursing homes. She loved to travel and kept her suitcase packed. Some of Betty’s favorite things included singing in the Choir and being in the Rhythm Band that visited local nursing homes for over 30 years. She loved to collect poetry and even wrote a lot of her own. Several of the grandkids’ weddings included a poem written by Grandma just for them.
Mrs. Eaton is survived by her children and their spouses, Linda and Mike Fourman of Greenville, Ohio; and John and Connie Eaton of Warsaw; her grandchildren and their spouses, Sarah and Tracy Soper of Richmond; Rachel and John Brown of Nappanee; Matthew and Kara Fourman of Maumee, Ohio; David and Mandy Fourman of Tipp City, Ohio; and Aaron and Amy Fourman of Worthington, Ohio; her great-grandchildren, Kade, Mason, Killian, Mera, Tyler, Heidi, Hallie, Kate, Maddie, Ella, Charlotte, Jillian, Macy, and Lila; and her numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Betty Eaton’s life will take place at the convenience of the family. Burial will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery in Syracuse, at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given in memory of Betty to the State of the Heart Care, 1350 N. Broadway St., Greenville, Ohio 45331.
