Area Quartet Land All-State Tennis Honors
INDIANAPOLIS – NorthWood and Warsaw both had representation on the 2019 IHSTECA Girls Tennis All-State honor roll.
Panther No. 1 singles Reegan Miller and Tiger No. 1 singles Alyssa Zellers were both named Honorable Mention All-State while the Tiger No. 1 doubles duo of Raegan Merchant and Rachel Yeager were also tabbed as Honorable Mention All-State.
A host of players from around the area were named to the various lists, to which the IHSTECA released First and Second Teams for singles and doubles as well as Honorable Mentions for both.
Penn’s Jamie Hurst and her doubles teammates Laura Gerber and Ali Kumfer were all named Second Team All-State. St. Joe doubles Kayla Graham and Jaclyn Voss were also named Second Team All-State.
Singles players earning Honorable Mention All-State included Concord’s Regan Landis, Penn’s Mandy Baker and Sophie Davidson, Plymouth’s Aubrey Vervynckt, Kyla Heckaman and Miranda German, St. Joe’s Alayna Campbell, Katie Bellia and Nicole Pascual, and Westview’s Lauryn Riegsecker.
Doubles teams earning Honorable Mention All-State included Concord’s Keegan Thursby and Lauren Pollock, Fairfield’s Madeline Gawthrop and Riley Miller, Goshen’s Brooke Grewe and Kathryn Detweiler, Penn’s Marly Kryder and Aden Moore, and Plymouth’s Mary Beatty and Audie Plothow.
One note from the IHSTECA, the North-South Tennis All-Star Cup, which was scheduled to take place Sunday, June 9, at Marian University, was washed out by rain and will not be made up. NorthWood’s Miller was the lone local player slated to play in the showcase.
