Charles LeRoy Walker
Charles “Charlie” LeRoy Walker, 73, Warsaw, passed away at 12:27 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1945, in Stringer, Mississippi to Christine (Welborn) Walker and Francis M. Walker. On April 4, 1967, he was married to Margaret “Peggy” Biltz with whom he remained married for 33 years. They had a daughter, Jennifer. He later married Geraleee “Geri” Antonette Jamesson on March 27, 2001.
He was a 1964 graduate of Warsaw High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until his honorable discharge in 1965. He attended one year at the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne and went to paramedic school through Goshen General Hospital in Goshen. He worked for Zimmer Inc. in Warsaw retiring after 29 years as well as serving his community as a paramedic with EMS for over 30 years. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 18 years, Geri A. Walker, Warsaw; daughter: Jennifer McVey, Syracuse; three grandchildren: Alex, Triston, and Kaleb Maxwell; and three great-grandchildren: Francis, Zayn, and Jaxyn Maxwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Annette Johenssen.
Charlie’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and officiated by Reverend Ken Locke.
