Milford Library’s Summer Reading Program Includes Space Festival
MILFORD — The Milford Public Library has announced its upcoming activities.
Summer Reading Program
Milford library’s annual Summer Reading Program is starting up again with sign-ups June 3. This summer there will be family story times, special events and fun contests. The library has announced it has incentives available for patrons who read and do activities on a bingo sheet. Every week, one bingo merits a prize. Registration cards will be available in both departments at the circulation desk.
Space Festival
Summer reading’s kick off, called the Space Festival, is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5 from noon to 2 p.m. in the library’s parking lot. There will be a space bouncy house, games to play and out-of-this-world snacks. Each child will be given 10 tickets to spend at the different booths.
Teen Book Club
Teens in grades six through 12 are invited to Teen Book Club on June 8 at 1 p.m. to discuss the book, “When” by Victoria Laurie. Maddie is a shy girl, cursed with an ability — she sees a series of numbers on everyone’s forehead. Her earliest memories of the numbers were from her dad who died prematurely. Her family then realized that these mysterious numbers are actually death dates. Her alcoholic mother forces her to use her talent to make some extra cash.
Free Lunch At Milford Public Library
Individuals ages 18 and younger can eat a free meal, weekdays from June 3 to July 26 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the library meeting room. Children can also listen to stories read by library staff members while they eat.
Meals are provided by the Department of Agriculture and the Indiana Department of Education. Each meal is nutritious and has protein, vegetables, and fruits. No meal service will be available July 4-5.
100 Years At This Location
This year the library is celebrating 100 years at its current location on Main Street. The library is planning an all-day celebration for Friday, June 28 and will have refreshments and door prize drawings from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. That evening, in the library’s parking lot, there will be an old fashioned ice cream social from 7 to 9 p.m. Everyone is invited to come to the library and celebrate with family, friends and neighbors. There will be entertainment from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
