Officers from the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
5:56 p.m. Saturday, May 25, South Huntington Street, Syracuse. Driver: Brice A. Wellington, 23, North Ward Lane, North Webster. Wellington told police he was backing his vehicle out of a parking space and did not see a parked vehicle behind him, causing his vehicle to collide with the parked vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
9:08 p.m. Monday, May 27, SR 25, north of Ford Lane, Warsaw. Driver: Esteban Rosas, 22, East Walnut Street, Akron. Rosas told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on SR 25 and hit a patch of standing water, causing his vehicle to veer and strike a utility pole. Both Rosas and a passenger in his vehicle complained of pain, but were released at the scene. Rosas consented to a blood draw and results are pending. Damage up to $25,000.
7:08 p.m. Monday, May 27, North Sunset Drive, south of Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Driver: Kapen L. Eherenman, 24, West CR 250S, Warsaw. Police located Eherenman, who had left the scene. Ehrenman was medically cleared at Kosciusko Community Hospital before being incarcerated. A minor passenger in Eherenman’s vehicle had a large laceration on her forehead and was transported to Fort Wayne Lutheran Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The minor had been sitting in a booster seat. Ehrenman told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on Sunset Drive when his phone went off. He said he looked down at his phone and that his vehicle left the roadway and struck a guardrail. Damage up to $2,500.
3:31 p.m. Monday, May 27, Enterprise Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Michael G. Walls, 54, Heron Boulevard, Warsaw. Walls told police he was backing his vehicle out of a parking space and did not notice a parked vehicle behind his and that his vehicle struck the parked vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
2:45 p.m. Monday, May 27, Husky Trail, Warsaw. Driver: Randy L. Jackson, 53, North Lake Street, Warsaw. Jackson told police he was backing his vehicle while talking on his cell phone and said he did not notice a parked vehicle behind his and that his vehicle struck the parked vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
1:14 p.m. Monday, May 27, North Detroit Street, Warsaw. Driver: Stan K. Leedy, 69, Bluewater Drive, Warsaw. Leedy told police he was backing out of a parking space and did not see a vehicle parked behind his vehicle, causing a collision. Damage up to $5,000.
12:19 p.m. Monday, May 27, East US 30 and Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Karen M. Ketterer, 33, South Harding Street, Warsaw; Theresa D. Fry, CR 52, Nappanee; Ryan S. Caudill, 42, North Detroit Street, Warsaw. Ketterer told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on US 30, approaching the intersection with Commerce Drive and said she believed she had a green light. Police said the vehicle driven by Fry entered the intersection and was struck by Ketterer’s vehicle. A wheel left Fry’s vehicle and struck the vehicle driven by Caudill. A witness said Fry had the green light. Fry complained of chest pain and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. A passenger in Fry’s vehicle, Matthew Bryan, 35, Nappanee, also complained of chest pain and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage up to $25,000.
1:27 p.m. Sunday, May 26, East Arthur Street, Warsaw. A motorist, unidentified by police, told officers that he had parked his vehicle in a parking spot at a camp site, but had forgotten to put the vehicle into park. The vehicle rolled into a camper. Damage up to $2,500.
3:21 p.m. Saturday, May 25, South Buffalo Street and SR 25, Warsaw. Drivers: Daniel A. Hall, 24, South Caldwell Lake Drive, Claypool; Justin D. Warstler, 29, South Viking Drive, Mentone. Hall told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on Buffalo Street and was approaching the intersection with Winona Avenue when the light turned from yellow to red. He said he applied his brakes but could not avoid entering the intersection, where his vehicle collided with the vehicle driven by Warstler. Warstler’s vehicle rolled several times and a minor passenger in Warstler’s vehicle complained of pain and was seen at the scene by EMS and released. Damage up to $25,000.
9:58 a.m. Saturday, May 25, Provident Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Steven R. Haines, 72, East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Haines told police he was leaving a parking space at Mason’s Healthcare and said he turned too sharply, causing his vehicle to make contact with an unoccupied and parked vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
4:36 p.m. Friday, May 24, Capital Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Jason E. Henry, 39, Jean Street, Winona Lake; Shelby A. Dean, 33, Nancy Street, Warsaw. Henry told police he was backing his vehicle out of a parking space and that his vehicle collided with the vehicle driven by Dean. Damage up to $5,000.
10:06 a.m. Friday, May 24, North Detroit Street and East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jonathan R. Jordan, 38, ance Avenue, Fort Wayne; Jacqueline G. Wyatt, 49, South Buffalo Street, Warsaw. Jordan told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on North Detroit Street and was stopped at the Fort Wayne Street intersection when a fire truck approached with lights and sirens on. He said he began to back his vehicle to give the fire truck room and said a female pedestrian motioned him back, indicating he had room. He said his vehicle backed into the vehicle driven by Wyatt. Damage up to $2,500.
