Mentone High School Donates History Books
MENTONE — Mentone High School Alumni Association president Alice Surface Keirn and MHS history book editor Susy Nellans Creighton donated one of their recently published books to Sharon Whetstone, librarian, Kosciusko County Historical Society, at the museum in the former Kosciusko County Jail.
Copies of the book will also be donated to Bell Memorial Library in Mentone, the Warsaw Community Public Library, Mentone Elementary School, Fulton County Historical Society and Tippecanoe Valley High School.
The MHS history book was distributed to alumni at their annual alumni annual meeting and banquet held at the Mentone Elementary School on May 19. The best photos and historical information collected was included to represent MHS experiences. A committee of MHS alumni worked on the book contents for seven months before turning the manuscript over to the printer. Besides Keirn and Creighton, committee members included Mary Boggs, Linda Cochran, Faith Goshert, Donna Pineda, Cindy Spitler and Cathy Whetstone.
Copies of the limited edition book may be purchased at the Kosciusko County Historical Society in the Jail Museum at 121 N. Indiana St., Warsaw, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Alumni who preordered books but have not picked them up may do so from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, May 25, at the Bell Memorial Library in Mentone and at the Mentone Egg Festival information booth from 4 to 7 p.m. May 31. Books may also be purchased at the library and information booth during those days and hours.
