Esther M. Sheeks
Esther M. Sheeks, 76, Rochester passed away at 2:55 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Woodlawn Hospital.
On Nov. 10, 1942, Esther was born in Cook County, Ill. to Griffin and Edith Yoder Berger. Growing up, she shared her childhood with three sisters and a brother. In 1960, she graduated from Argos High School. Coming from Argos, she made Rochester her home in 1970.
In 2004, after 38 years, she retired from Rochester Metal Products. She worked as a supervisor in the quality corner and finishing department. Eating out with her family and friends at Tweedle Dee’s, Karen’s-Teels, Log House and Castaways was always an enjoyable time.
Esther Sheeks is lovingly remembered by a daughter, Sunday Sheeks, of Rochester; special daughter, Pamela Shippy and husband Brian of Rochester; two grandchildren: Samantha Sheeks and companion Mikel Bays of Fort Wayne, Donald Garling II; great-granddaughter Mia Bays; two sisters: Gladys “Joyce” Kolar and husband Richard of Plymouth, Katheryn “Jean” Eskridge and husband Arthur of McHenry, IL; special friend, Virg Patterson and husband Jim of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Esther in death are her parents, husband Jerry Sheeks in January of 1966, a sister, Carol MaDonna and a brother, David Berger.
A celebration of the life of Esther Sheeks will be at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Friends may visit with the family from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday.
