UPDATE: Driver Airlifted After Monday Accident Doesn’t Remember Crash
PIERCETON — The driver that was airlifted after a single-vehicle accident in Pierceton on Monday, May 20, doesn’t remember the moments leading up to the crash.
The accident occurred at 4:04 p.m. on South First Street. Driver Margaret Kangeri, 28, North Parker Street, Warsaw, was traveling south on South First Street when her vehicle swerved to the right, quickly making a hard jerk to the left and accelerating at a high rate of speed. Kangeri’s vehicle struck a large tree.
A witness told officers that both Kangeri and their vehicle were traveling at approximately 25 mph when Kangeri’s vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason.
Kangeri was unresponsive at the scene and was transported by Parkview Hospital’s air ambulance to Fort Wayne. Kangeri told officers that she does not remember the moments leading up to the crash but that she believes that she had a seizure that rendered her unconscious prior to the crash. Kangeri sustained injury to her knee, lower leg and foot area as a result of the accident.
Damage from the accident was estimated at up to $25,000.
