WAWASEE 166, COLUMBIA CITY 171
The Warriors concluded its regular season duals with a solid win at home against the Eagles.
Dillon Drake played his final home match in control, leading the field with a medalist 38. Zach Leedy was one shot back at 39 and Jared Krugman posted a 44 in his final home match. Evan Dippon and Brandon Tayagua both carded 45 for the Warriors.
City had its top scores come in as 40 from Sean Bledsoe and Zach Harker. Alex Hedrich was one back at 41 with Mitchell Wilson at 44 and Wyatt Krider at 46.
“Nice night to play,” stated Wawasee golf coach Steve Coverstone. “This is more the way we should be playing. It really helps to have our top guys go low.”
Wawasee’s JV couldn’t catch City in a 178-180 final. Caden Welty led the Warriors with a 42 and both Tyler Bosstick and Aiden Jonsson had 44s. Caleb Clevenger added a 50.
Wawasee (14-4) will compete in Saturday’s Triton Invite before turning its attention to next Friday’s Warsaw Golf Sectional at Rozella Ford Golf Course.
TRITON 168, BREMEN 197, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 212
Triton captured a nice pair of wins Thursday against a pair of area rivals.
Cole McKinney led the Trojans with a 40 in what was a tightly bunched set of scores. Chase Butler had a 41, Carter Kuntz had a 43, John Gardner a 44 and Beau Hepler a 46.
Bremen’s scores were more spread out, led by Josh Hawkins at 45 and Mark Bahr at 49, but then Brennan Adams posted 51, Brett Yelaska had 52 and Carter Leman a 57.
Valley saw Cade Brouyette fall back with a 45, but slip further down the line with Mason Purvis shooting a 53, Bryce Madeford turn in 54, Johnny Gonsalez score 60 and Billy Gilman hang 63.
Triton shot a 186 to Bremen’s 239 in the JV totals. Individual scores were not made available.
