Charles Milton ‘Chuck’ Gilbert
Charles Milton “Chuck” Gilbert, 83, Warsaw, passed away at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at his son’s residence. He was born on Sept. 16, 1935, in Richmond, to Milton H. and Viola (Fourman) Gilbert.
He attended Richmond public schools, was a United States Army veteran, and on Nov. 8, 1963, in Sioux Falls, S.D. he married Rebecca Serena “Becky” Wing who survives. He formerly lived in Texas, Ohio, and Minnesota before moving to Warsaw in 1987 from Oklahoma. He formerly worked various jobs in maintenance of grounds and building and was a mechanic. He formerly worked for Creighton Brothers, Ace Hardware, Cardinal Center for eight years in Warsaw, and Baker Hughes in McAlester, Okla. and Houston, Texas for more than seven years.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters: Brenda J. (Mark) Hellyer, Pearland, Texas; Christina Marie Comer, Warsaw; three sons: Eric (Cathy) Gilbert, Warsaw; Blaine M. (Linda) Gilbert, Goshen; Mitchell D. (Dian) Gilbert, Goshen; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Lawrence a. (Betty) Gilbert, Manvel, Texas; and Carl Joseph (Kim) Gilbert, Alvin, Texas; half-brother: David (Margaret) Oakley, Manvel, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kathrine J. Gilbert, great-great-grandson, Chazz Logan Lee Crippin, and half-brother – Claude Oakley
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1720 E. Center St., Warsaw, IN 46580 with Rev. Michael Mueller of the church officiating. Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw, IN is in charge of arrangements.
