Letitia K. ‘Tish’ Clevenger
Letitia K. “Tish” Clevenger, 78, formerly of Syracuse, passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw. She was born on April 28, 1941, in Goshen, to Gaylord E. and Evelyn M. (Bitner) Jones.
She graduated in 1959 from Syracuse High School and attended Ball State University in Muncie. She was married on July 1, 1961, in Syracuse, to Charles Joseph “Chuck” Clevenger, who preceded her on May 1, 1988. She retired from Wawasee Community Schools Corporation where she worked as a paraprofessional for Syracuse Elementary school for 20 years and formerly worked at Mr. Pickwick Men’s Store in Syracuse. She was a lifetime Syracuse area resident and wintered in Naples, Fla. for many years.
She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse, American Legion Post 223 Auxiliary in Syracuse, and former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Syracuse and Red Hats Club in Naples, Fla.
She is survived by her daughter, Candace “Candi” (Jeff) Heiliger, Elkhart; son: Curt Clevenger, Warsaw; grandson: Mitchell Heiliger; sister, Cindy (Doug) Wells, Syracuse; brother, Jay Jones, Fort Myers, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister – Cheryl Swartz, and infant twin siblings, Daryl and Carol Jones.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 24, at the funeral home with Pastor David Henry officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
