Lakeview Track Finishes At State
TERRE HAUTE — The Lakeview Middle School track and field teams closed out their seasons at the state meet over the weekend.
The Lady Tigers had seven girls qualify in seven separate events, while the Tiger boys had nine athletes compete in a total of eight events Saturday.
A trio of school records were set on the girls’ side.
Joey Rastrelli, Kiana Rager, Mikayla Mimnaugh and Rylee Burns set a new school record in the 4×400 on their way to a third-place result in 4:22.33. Burns broke her own school record in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.19, good enough for sixth place at the state meet, and Rastrelli set a third new school record in the 1600 meters, where she clocked 5:47.21 to finish in 14th place after entering the meet with a 27th seed.
Rastrelli later set a new personal best in the 800 meters, with a 2:38.26 stop for 21st place. Mimnaugh finished 12th in the 200 hurdles (33.64), followed by Lenoire Prieshoff in 21st (35.63), and both also competed in the 100 hurdles with respective times of 19.13 and 22.07 seconds in the preliminaries. The 400-meter relay team of Rhyan Darlington, Chrissy Rice, Rager and Burns placed ninth in 54.66 seconds.
Meanwhile, on the boys’ side of things, German Flores placed ninth in the shot put (38’6”) and ninth in the long jump (17’6”) to lead the boys. Emiliano Juarez finished 15th in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 57.43 and was voted MVP by the coaches that went to the state meet. Edward Robison placed 16th in the 1600 (5:05.87) and 24th in the 800 (2:18.82) with a pair of personal bests in those runs, while Christian Malagon and Levi Perry placed 21st and 29th, respectively, behind Juarez in the 400 with respective times of 58.3 and 59.91, and Jordan Ehrlinger finished 22nd in the 200 hurdles (31.23).
Jack Hill was 18th in the 200 hurdles (30.85), Tucker Curtis finished 15th in the long jump (16’11 3/4”), the Tigers’ 400 relay team of Flores, Morgan Johnson, Curtis and Perry finished 12th (49.73) in their races, and Juarez, Malagon, Perry and Johnson combined for 10th place in the 4×400 relay in 3:54.99.
