WAWASEE 19, LAKELAND 7
Wawasee baseball put up 18 hits in a rout of Lakeland over the weekend.
The Warriors plated 16 runs over the second and third innings on the way to the win.
Levi Brown helped his own cause with two homers on the way to five RBIs for the day. He surrendered just two hits and a walk for one unearned run in three innings of work on the hill.
Kameron Salazar went 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and three RBIs. Grant Brooks, Austin Baker, Logan Adkins and Brandon Baker all had multiple hits for Wawasee in the road win.
The Warriors move to 15-10 and will play the winner of Angola-Lakeland in sectional action Saturday at 10 a.m.
FORT WAYNE SNIDER 8, WARSAW 1
WARSAW 8, DEKALB 7
Warsaw baseball advanced to the championship game of its on Tiger Tournament with a narrow win over DeKalb but fell behind early and couldn’t recover in a loss to Snider in the championship game.
In the title game, the Tigers were led offensively by Ian Glogovsky (2-for-3), Noah Burgh (2-for-3, RBI) and Jacob Hutcherson (2-for-3). Joey Springer took the loss, allowing 12 hits and eight runs over 5 2/3 innings, striking out five and walking zero.
Burgh’s walk-off double propelled the hosts to the win the victory over DeKalb, meanwhile.
Warsaw would begin the scoring in the first inning when Lukas Maier singled and then scored on a Liam Patton double. Matt Shoemaker would then single to score Patton. The Tigers would add four more in the bottom of the second inning courtesy of hits by Josh Ehrlinger, Maier, Patton and Glogovsky to go ahead 6-0.
DeKalb would tally five runs in the top of third inning and two more in the top of the sixth to make it 7-6 going into the bottom of the seventh, but Warsaw had an answer.
In the bottom of the seventh, Maier reached on an error and Patton would reach on a single. Glogovsky then laid down a sacrifice bunt to move both runners to second and third base. Burgh promptly doubled to left field and ended the game.
Springer earned the victory on the mound for the Tigers. He lasted one inning, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out two. Burgh started the game for Warsaw. He surrendered seven runs on five hits over six innings, striking out four.
Warsaw (11-15) is in action again on Monday when the Tigers take on Elkhart Central.
