Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
12:27 p.m. Sunday, May 19, South SR 13, Warsaw. Drivers: Castille K. Dewells, 32, South Wolf Road, Columbia City; Sheila A. Spaw, 48, EMS B61 Lane, Warsaw. Dewells told police he was backing out of a parking space when his vehicle collided with the vehicle driven by Spaw, who was pulling into a gas station. Damage up to $5,000.
5:48 a.m. Sunday, May 19, East US 30, east of South CR 325E, Warsaw. Driver: Wyatt M. Moyers, 23, Foster Court, Fort Wayne. Moyers told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on US 30 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
10 p.m. Saturday, May 18, West US 30, west of North CR 950W, Etna Green. Driver: Sarah E. Sensibaugh, 33, East Old SR 14, Winamac. Sensibaugh told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on US 30 when a deer entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
12:28 p.m. Saturday, May 18, West Old Road 30, Warsaw. A vehicle registered to Stephanie P. O’Brien, Shady Lane, Warsaw, was struck while parked by an unknown vehicle, possibly light colored or gray. Damage up to $1,000.
2:14 a.m. Saturday, May 18, West SR 25, Mentone. Driver: Joshua S. Napier, 37, West Rochester Street, Akron. Napier told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on SR 25 when he fell asleep, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and damage a yard. Damage up to $5,000.
9:37 p.m. Friday, May 17, CR 1000N, east of CR 450E, Syracuse. Driver: Carrie L. Querry, 42, North Front Street, Rome City. Querry told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on CR 1000N and told police she lost control of her vehicle during a turn, causing it to leave the roadway, strike a ditch and roll over on its top. Damage up to $25,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
4:05 p.m. Sunday, May 19, west CR 300N and Shelden Street, Warsaw. Driver: Cheryl L. Hiatt, 56, North Zimmer Road, Warsaw. Hiatt told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on CR 300N and approaching the intersection with Shelden Street. She said when she proceeded through the intersection, a black, mid-1990s Chevrolet Cavalier turned at the intersection and struck her vehicle. The driver of the Cavalier left the scene in the vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
3:54 p.m. Sunday, May 19, East Winona Avenue, east of South Buffalo Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Tamara R. Taylor, 60, East CR 450S, Warsaw; Michael W. Howard, 26, North Copeland Street, Warsaw. Taylor told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on East Winona Avenue and could not stop her vehicle in time to avoid it striking the rear of Howard’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
12:44 p.m. Sunday, May 19, Detroit Street, north of Jefferson Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Joan M. Foster, 61, Elm Street, Wabash; Rene Salinas, 30, Logan Street, Warsaw; Jonathon S. Metz, 40, North CR 400E, Warsaw. Foster told police that she was driving her vehicle on Detroit Street and crossing over the railroad tracks when traffic stopped suddenly in front of her, causing her vehicle to collide with the rear of Salinas’ vehicle, which in turn bumped the rear of Metz’s vehicle. Damage up to $25,000.
2:02 p.m. Saturday, May 18, East Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Police reported that a vehicle, possibly a white SUV, struck a parked vehicle in the Lakeview Shopping Center and left the scene. Damage up to $2,500.
4:22 p.m. Friday, May 17, US 30, west of East Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Trayten J. Mikesell, 18, East 18th Street, Rochester; Ashley N. Staton, 33, Beckley Street, North Manchester. Mikesell told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on US 30 and that a vehicle in front of her had changed lanes abruptly and that traffic slowed as a result. She said she briefly looked at her vehicle’s GPS and when she looked back up, she was approaching slowed or stopped traffic and did not have time to slow her vehicle to avoid a rear-end collision with the vehicle driven by Staton. Damage up to $5,000.
