Warsaw, Memorial Lead All-NLC Track
GOSHEN – The champion Warsaw Lady Tigers and Elkhart Memorial Chargers led the way in the voting for All-Northern Lakes Conference, as it was announced late this week.
Warsaw’s girls won the team title with a 7-0 mark and scored 169 points to capture the NLC Championship title for the clean sweep. Among the All-NLC honorees were Wini Barnett, Remi Beckham, Makayla Clampitt, Ashley Hepler, Grayson Kilburn, Ava Knight and Amanda Lusinde. Caitlin Kehler was given an Honorable Mention All-NLC nod and Megan Davis was voted by her peers as Coach of the Year.
Memorial came in second in both stages, sitting 6-1 and boasting of Morgan Dyer, Laila Nagy and Tianna Roundtree and an Honorable Mention for Mya Reeves.
Northridge (5-2) had Shelby Heerschop, Ella Hoefer, Hannah Hoffman, Karlee Lehman and Madison Sorg as All-NLC.
Concord (2-5) jumped from sixth to fourth with its fourth-place finish at the NLC Championships, and had Tesslyn Tarman as All-NLC and Summer Cooper and Sydney Simon as Honorable Mention All-NLC. Riley Hershberger of NorthWood (4-3), Cece Robinson of Plymouth (2-5), Jada Parzygnot and Sara Pritchard of Wawasee (1-6) and Brandi Smith of Goshen (1-6) round out the All-NLC picks.
Sara Lopez and Kali Parisi of NorthWood, Sasha Ramos of Goshen and Kait Carothers of Plymouth were also Honorable Mention All-NLC.
For the boys, Memorial ran 7-0 in the round robin and backed it up with 127 points at the Championships to lay claim to the outright title. The Chargers yielded Ian Soeun, Juan Cepero, Derrick Woods, Curtis Peals, Neil Terrell, Joshua Ekema, Hazael Morales, Damien Funnell, Lashawn Whitener and Javon Forester as All-NLC and Jai-Veon Qaiyim as Honorable Mention All-NLC. Coach Adam Homo returned to the top of his profession as Coach of the Year.
Warsaw (6-1) had Alijah Wade and Nick Bazzoni as All-NLC and Tanner Stiver as Honorable Mention All-NLC.
NorthWood (5-2) finished third and saw Bronson Yoder, Tyler Evers and Landon Parker earn All-NLC.
Jamyris Rice of Concord (4-3), Daveyon Sandford and Felix Perez-Diener of Goshen (2-5), Carter Rich of Northridge (3-4), Blake Reed of Plymouth (1-6) and Luke Griner and Isaiah Tipping of Wawasee (0-7) round out the All-NLC list.
Luke Owings and Orlando Clark of Concord, Tomas Fuentes of Goshen, Ricky Howey and Tanner Sallee of Northridge and Kendall Himes of Plymouth were named Honorable Mention All-NLC.
