Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
7:18 a.m. Friday, May 17, North CR 175E, north of East Walnut Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Brenden J. Melton, 17, EMS C3 Lane, Warsaw; and Michelle Osborn-Harter, 43, Pine Drive, Warsaw. Melton said he began backing out of a driveway and did not see Osborn-Harter’s vehicle. Melton’s vehicle struck Osborn-Harter’s vehicle. Osborn-Harter complained of pain to her knee and lower leg area. A passenger in Osborn-Harter’s vehicle, Ryan Harter, 21, Pine Drive, Warsaw, complained of head pain. Damage up to $25,000.
5:26 a.m. Friday, May 17, SR 19, north of West CR 950N, Nappanee. Drivers: Marcus N. Troyer, 19, 3rd Road, Bremen; and Erica D. Balsley, 26, Railroad Street, Etna Green. Troyer was pulling a trailer behind his vehicle and traveling south on SR 19. He advised he believes he began to fall asleep and crossed the center line. Balsley, who was traveling north on SR 19, said Troyer’s vehicle crossed the center line into her lane. She said she attempted to avoid a collision but struck the rear axle of the trailer, resulting in her vehicle going off the roadway and into a ditch. Damage up to $5,000.
6:32 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, SR 15, north of CR 800S, Silver Lake. Driver: Jo Ellen Studio, 61, SR 524, Wabash. Studio’s vehicle struck a deer. A passenger in Studio’s vehicle had a hand injury and planned to see his own doctor. Damage up to $10,000.
9:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, West CR 1250N, east of North CR 200W, Milford. Driver: James E. Pippenger, 45, Lincoln Street, Nappanee. Pippenger said a raccoon ran out in front of his vehicle and he was unable to avoid striking it. His vehicle then went off the road and struck a mailbox. Damage up to $2,500.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:40 a.m. Thursday, May 16, East CR 1300N, west of North Camelot Trail, Syracuse. Driver: Dane M. Harper, 23, EMS D24B Lane, Syracuse. Harper advised he was westbound on East CR 1300N when a deer entered the roadway. Harper swerved to avoid striking the deer and overcorrected, losing control of his vehicle. The vehicle rolled onto its side. Harper complained of mild pain in his neck and was checked out at the scene by EMS. He declined transport to a hospital. Damage up to $25,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
1:17 p.m. Friday, May 17, Frontage Road, east of Eastlake Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Martha E. Madison, 72, Runkle Drive, Warsaw. Madison’s vehicle went off the road and struck a guardrail. Damage up to $5,000.
