TIPPECANOE VALLEY 11, WHITKO 2
Tippecanoe Valley collected a dominant Three Rivers Conference win over host Whitko Wednesday night.
The Vikings put up four runs in each of the first two innings, then tacked on three more in the third to cruise to the win.
Tanner Trippiedi gave up seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts for two runs in a complete-game outing on the mound for Valley.
The Viking offense was led by Payton mills, who went 3-for-4 at the plate and batted in four runners. Wes Melanson and Layne Prater each added two hits, and Tucker Shull hit a bomb to left field for his second home run of the season.
Evan Wilson went 3-for-3, and Aiden Hoffman was 2-for-3 for Whitko. Mason Lehmen took the loss giving up seven hits and three walks for eight earned runs lasting just 1 2/3 innings for Whitko, which slipped to 1-14 and 0-9 in conference play.
Valley improves to 8-9 with a 4-5 TRC mark. The Vikings play Lebanon Saturday.
WARSAW 7, ELKHART MEMORIAL 4
The Warsaw Tigers started fast, gave up an early lead, and then stayed ahead for good in a 7-4 Northern Lakes Conference win over Elkhart Memorial on Wednesday.
The Tigers scored two in the top of the second when Matt Shoemaker scored on an RBI single from Jacob Hutcherson. Joey Springer would then score on a ground ball from Josh Ehrlinger.
Elkhart Memorial would tally three runs in the bottom of the second inning, but the Tigers evened things up with a run in the top of the third inning when Ian Glogovsky scored on a ground ball from Noah Burgh.
Warsaw took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. With Liam Patton batting with the bases loaded, Elkhart Memorial would throw two consecutive wild pitches to score two and put the Tigers up 5-3. Lukas Maier would then score on an RBI single from Glogovsky to make it 6-3.
Elkhart Memorial would plate one more in the bottom of the fourth, but the Chargers would get no closer as Warsaw would push another run home in the fifth inning when Shoemaker scored on an error.
Joey Springer was credited with the victory for Warsaw. He lasted 3 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out two.
Drake Graham started the game for the Tigers. He allowed three hits and four runs over 3 2/3 innings, striking out seven.
Warsaw was led offensively by Shoemaker, who went 1-for-3 with a triple, Hutcherson, who finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and Patton, who was also 2-for-4.
The Tigers move to 10-14 overall and 6-8 in the NLC. They will face DeKalb in Game 1 of the Tiger Tourney Saturday at 10 a.m.
WAWASEE 10, CONCORD 3
The Warriors got rolling late and continued rolling to an NLC win at Concord Wednesday.
The score was knotted at 0-0 until Wawasee plated four runs during a big fifth inning. Following a three-run bottom half of the inning by the Minutmen, Wawasee scratched out three more runs in both the sixth and seventh.
Levi Brown and Grant Brooks both finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored to lead the Warriors at the plate. Carter Woody got the pitching win, surrendering 10 hits and one walks versus six strikeouts for three earned runs in six innings of work. Jacob Krugman closed it out with a one-hit seventh.
Wawasee improves to 13-10 overall and an even 7-7 in NLC play. The Warriors host Churubusco in a non-conference contest Friday at 5 p.m.
Also Wednesday, Wawasee’s JV fell 10-8 to Concord.
