Woman Killed In US 30 Crash In Eastern Marshall County
BOURBON — A woman was killed Saturday afternoon, May 11, in eastern Marshall County when witnesses at the scene said she drove her car into the path of a semi tractor-trailer tanker. It is not yet known who had the right of way.
According to witnesses, the woman crossed the intersection of Beech Road and US 30, traveling southbound on Beech Road and was struck by a the semi, which was traveling eastbound on US 30. The semi drug the car several hundred feet with the car still attached to the passenger’s side of the semi and facing back to the west.
The accident occurred sometime in the afternoon, with firefighting units from Etna Green getting called to assist with a possible landing zone for helicopter medical evacuation at approximately 4:30 p.m. The helicopter was later canceled. A Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputy at the scene confirmed the woman died from her injuries at the scene.
The crash caused a total standstill of eastbound traffic for more than an hour, being slowly allowed to proceed at 5:25 p.m.
