Warsaw Grabs Early NLC Win
WARSAW – The Warsaw boys golf team earned a big first win in the Northern Lakes Conference, toppling NorthWood 159-178 Tuesday night at Rozella Ford Golf Club.
Warsaw picked up medalist honors from its three and four golfers, Zach LaLonde and Seth Hildebrand, both posting 39s on the back nine at Rozella. Tucker Carlile offered a 40 from the five spot and Cal Hoskins added a 41.
NorthWood wasn’t able to keep pace with its scoring at the future home of the NLC tournament. Sean Hogan and Kyle Cripe both turned in 44s to lead the Panthers, and Jon Cripe and Cooper Wiens each ended with bogey golf rounds of 45.
Warsaw’s JV also ran the table, beating NorthWood 183-207. Jack Yeager had the top round for the Tigers with a 43 and Ben Brander was right behind at 44. Liam Hammond paced the Panthers with a 46.
Warsaw moves to 1-0 in the NLC while NorthWood drops its first NLC match. The two teams will work again Thursday, Warsaw heading to Bent Oak to take on Concord and Northridge while NorthWood visits South Shore to face Wawasee and Plymouth.
