Softball Results: May 8
WAWASEE 11, NORTHRIDGE 10
Wawasee pulled off a huge comeback in upsetting Northridge in Syracuse Wednesday night.
Delaney Hare had the biggest hit of her season, a three-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Wawasee a wild win. Wawasee trailed 10-4 entering its final at-bat, but started the rally with a homer from Hare to lead off the frame. Two singles and a hit batsman later, Ava Rush added an RBI single, then an error and bases loaded walk to Graceanne Kerlin moved the score to 10-8.
Hare finished 2-for-4 for the day with four RBIs. Abi Smith continued to skull the ball, homering among her four hits and Faith Swihart added another homer for the Warriors.
Allison Hostetler doubled, homered and drove in two for the Raiders, which fall to 8-2 in the NLC. Madison Wienert had four hits and three runs scored, and Makena Knepp and Sam Mathews each had three hits.
Kiaundra Olson got the win for Wawasee, Jenifer Robinson the loss for Northridge.
Wawasee (12-8, 8-3 NLC) visit Plymouth Friday.
NORTHWOOD 7, WARSAW 2
Gracie Clark had a night to remember in pacing NorthWood past Warsaw in Nappanee.
Clark had four hits, scored a pair of runs and drove in one to pace the Panther offense. In the circle, Clark tossed a complete game five-hitter, striking out five. Both of Warsaw’s runs were unearned.
Kennedy Hochstetler had three hits and three runs scored and Morgan Jenkins hit her third homer of the season.
Lindsey Bradley and Courtney Chookie both drove in runs for the Tigers, which scored both its runs in the fourth inning. NorthWood scored two in the first, two in the third, and responded to Warsaw’s pair of runs with a pair of its own in the bottom of the fourth.
Chookie took the loss, giving up six runs in four innings.
NorthWood (9-11, 3-8 NLC) hosts Memorial Friday while Warsaw (5-14, 3-8 NLC) visits Northridge Friday.
PERU 3, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 0
For the second game in a row, Tippecanoe Valley was competitive, but couldn’t catch a break in a Three Rivers Conference loss.
Graycee Ansari had everything to do with Peru’s dominance, tossing a true perfect game, going seven innings with 12 strikeouts. Ansari threw 66 of 82 pitches for strikes and only allowed one flyout the entire game.
Mayde Fear threw admirably in the loss, scattering six hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
Maegan Sinkovics had a solo homer for the Tigers.
Valley (3-12, 0-6 TRC) will go back to work Thursday at Marion.
