WABASH 3, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 2
For the third time this season, Valley and Wabash resumed acquaintances. On Wednesday in Akron, Wabash took the rubber match.
Brooke Irgang again bested Mackenzie Costello at No. 1 in a 6-0, 6-3 final while Bella Carillo tipped Hannah Parson 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 at No. 2. Valley would pull back two points with a 6-3, 6-2 win from Gigi Engstrand at No. 3 over Isabel France and the No. 1 doubles team of Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley continued its stellar play with a 6-3, 6-7 (7-4), 6-2 win against Halle Miller and Cammie Kugler.
The deciding point came at No. 2 doubles, where Annie Cole and Evelynn Grey came back to beat Haley Baker and Kaitlin Neese 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Kennedie Brooks and Andie Schwenger took a JV court for the Vikings.
Tippecanoe Valley (6-7) gets back to business again Wednesday against Whitko.
BREMEN 5, TRITON 0
The Lions overpowered the Trojans in a potential sectional preview in Bourbon.
Bremen wasn’t messing around in its quest for a sectional title, setting the precedent against a Triton team that had no answers. Both Emily Smith and Katie Barnes both won their singles matches 6-0, 6-1 against Molly McFarland and Maddie Ritchison while Emilee Taylor upended Ivy Powell 6-1, 6-2.
Doubles was much of the same as Grace Meyer and Courtney Lawmaster cruised 6-1, 6-1 against Emma Hepler and Lexia Hostrawser and Bailey Vermillion and Anna Leeper shut out Lilly Hubert and Madison Davis love and love.
Bremen moves to 16-2 on the season while Triton drops to 4-7 overall. The Trojans will enter into the Hoosier North Athletic Conference tournament Wednesday at Knox.
