MANCHESTER 4, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 1
Manchester continued to pace the Three Rivers Conference leaderboard with a home win over the Vikings.
Its singles corps were on point in dismantling the Vikings. Kelsey Eichenauer, Halle Briner and Eva Bazzoni lost just three games in sweeping the Valley trio of Mackenzie Costello, Hannah Parson and Gigi Engstrand.
Doubles were a little more of an adventure. Rebekah Pyle and Alyssa Marvel put away Kaitlin Neese and Haley Baker 6-2, 6-3 for the fourth Manchester win. Valley, though, would salvage a point when Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley would rally for a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 thriller, pushing the Viking duo to 11-1 on the season at No. 1 doubles.
In JV contests, Valley compiled wins from Kennedie Brooks and Andie Schwenger, and Nataly Rodriguez and Evelin Rodriguez.
Valley (6-6) returns to work Tuesday against Wabash.
WARSAW 3, GOSHEN 2
Warsaw caps its Northern Lakes Conference round robin with a close win over the RedHawks.
Enduring a rain delay, Warsaw needed its No. 2 doubles team to pull out the team win. With singles wins from Alyssa Zellers, a three and love winner over Lucy Kramer, and Rachel Boyle, a three and three triumph against Madi Rittenhouse, attention turned to a third spot.
Goshen would grab the one doubles pairing, with Brooke Grewe and Kathryn Detwiler posting a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory against Rachel Yeager and Raegan Merchant. Two singles also went to Goshen, Anna Podgorski pulling off a marathon 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) thriller against Anastasia Kalikova.
Warsaw’s third point came at two doubles, where Amy Herendeen and Maddie Ray continued its stellar NLC play with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Sage Christner and Sophie Kirkton.
Izzy Ray, Elena Sullivan and Katrielle Rodgers all were singles winners among Warsaw’s 10-2 JV slate.
Warsaw finishes 4-3 in NLC contests and will look to Wednesday for the start of the NLC Championships, the opening two rounds at Concord and Friday at Plymouth for the finals.
