BREAKING — Woman Hurt In US 30 Vehicle-Pedestrian Accident
WARSAW — A woman was walking along or near US 30 Tuesday afternoon when she was struck by a vehicle and later rushed to a Fort Wayne hospital.
Emergency first responders, including officers with the Warsaw Police Department, members of the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory and Lutheran EMS were dispatched to an accident involving a woman who was struck while walking along US 30 at shortly before 4 p.m.
First responders initially called for dispatchers to call for air support, but at 4:01 p.m., called back to central dispatch to cancel a helicopter. Officials at the scene initially said the woman was not moving, but appeared to be breathing. Calls back to dispatch described the woman as having head injuries.
At 4:08 p.m., the woman was transported by ambulance, first westbound, turning at Springhill Road and heading back east, bypassing Parker Street, which could have taken the ambulance to either Warsaw hospital and continued eastbound on US 30.
