Mitchell ‘Mitch’ Ray Titus
Mitchell “Mitch” Ray Titus, 47, Warsaw, sadly passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, from injuries sustained in a workplace accident.
He was born on April 30, 1972, in Wabash County, Indiana to Mary L. (Ward) Thomas and the late Jerry L. Titus. On April 6, 2013, he was married to Jody L. (Shively) Titus, who survives.
He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana where he was a 1990 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and attended Otterbein United Methodist Church in Atwood. He worked for over 20 years for G&G Hauling and Excavating, Inc. in Warsaw as an equipment operator and very much enjoyed his work family. G & G Hauling and Excavating. He loved to fish and hunt, was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association and was a ten-year member of the Kosciusko County 4-H, and member of the Kosciusko County Firemen’s Association.
He loved his community and served the Town of Winona Lake as the Fire Chief for over ten years. He proudly and humbly received the Fireman of the Year award from the Kosciusko County Firemen’s Association in 2018. He will be remembered as the kind of person, who was always willing to help, but most of all he will be forever loved as a husband, father, grandfather, brother and son.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of six years, Jody L. Titus, Warsaw; son: Garrett Titus, Larwill; three daughters: ShaShawna Titus, Huntington; Mallory Bowers, Warsaw; Allie Titus, Warsaw; and his granddaughter: Zoie Titus, Larwill. Also surviving are his mother and step-father: Mary and Cliff Thomas, Warsaw; sister: Amber (Kevin) Gelbaugh, Warsaw; step-brother: Craig Thomas, Warsaw; and his niece: Emma Gelbaugh, Winona Lake.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Titus, grandparents, Ned and Maryon Titus, Leroy and Mary Ward, and his Uncle David Titus.
Family and friends are invited to share their condolences and memories during a visitation that will be held from 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, at the Winona Heritage Room, 901 Park Avenue, Winona Lake.
A final farewell to Mitch Titus will take place with an 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, May 9, at The Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center, 610 Wooster Road, Winona Lake, and officiated by Pastor Denny Wilson and Pastor Jeff Pfeifer. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
