Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
9:26 p.m. Sunday, May 5, West US 30, west of North Fox Farm Road, Warsaw. Driver: Ana A. Garcia, 36, F Street, LaPorte. Garcia told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on US 30 when a deer entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
5:15 p.m. Sunday, East CR 650N, west of North CR 675E, North Webster. Driver: Stephon D. Miller, 21, North Sawgrass Lane, Leesburg. Miller told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on CR 650N when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
6:18 a.m. Saturday, May 4, South SR 19, north of West CR 700S, Mentone. Driver: Vianca V. Martinez, 28, East Water Street, Akron. Martinez told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on SR 19 when several deer ran into the roadway, causing her to swerve her vehicle and leave the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
5:08 p.m. Thursday, May 2, West Hoppus Road, Warsaw. Driver: Stephanie A. Stanley, 48, West Hoppus Road, Warsaw. Stanley told police she was backing her vehicle out of the garage at her residence when she accidentally struck a parked car that was in a shared driveway. Damage up to $10,000.
11:12 a.m. Thursday, May 2, West Prairie Street and South Jefferson Street, Leesburg. Charles E. Baker, 63, North Barbee Road, Warsaw. Baker told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on Prairie Street when another vehicle turned into his path, causing him to turn his vehicle to the left and hit a curb. Damage up to $10,000.
5:34 a.m. Thursday, May 2, North SR 19, north of West SR 10, Etna Green. Driver: Robert J. Bell, 42, South CR 600W, Mentone. Bell told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 19 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Syracuse
Officers from the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
11:12 a.m. Saturday, May 4, West Maple Grove, north of South Huntington Street, Syracuse. Drivers: Debra K. Holdeman, 62, North CR 200E, Milford; Michael E. Prescott, 45, Northshore Drive, Syracuse. Police said both vehicles were traveling northbound on Huntington Street. Holdeman told police she looked away from the road and when she looked back forward, Prescott’s vehicle was stopped in front of her. She said she did not have time to stop her vehicle and prevent a rear-end collision. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
7:26 p.m. Sunday, May 5, South SR 15 and East Prairie Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Mark L. Brumblow, 51, North 1st Street, Warsaw; Shawn M. McAfoose, 28, Oldfather Street, Warsaw. Brumblow told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on Detroit Street, approaching the intersection with Prairie Street. He said he looked down and when he looked back up, he was approaching McAfoose’s vehicle, which was towing a vehicle. He said he struck the towed vehicle and the collision also caused damage to McAfoose’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
6:29 p.m. Sunday, May 5, Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. Driver: Jennifer R. Risner, 56, EMS D18A Lane, Syracuse. Risner told police she was driving her vehicle south in the Walmart parking lot and turned her vehicle into a yellow handicap pole. Damage up to $2,500.
2:01 p.m. Sunday, May 5, Parker Street and East Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Erika D. Loe, 30, South Grant Street, Warsaw; Ocean C. Sabo, 16, Old Road 17, Goshen. Loe told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on Parker Street and that she attempted to pass the vehicle in front of her and sideswiped the vehicle driven by Sabo. Damage up to $2,500.
1:55 p.m. Sunday, May 5, North Detroit Street and Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Drivers: Nathan J. Conley, 48, Chickadee Lane, Warsaw; Cara L. Ousley, 70, West CR 200S, Warsaw. Conley told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on North Detroit Street when he looked down to adjust his radio and when he looked back up, Ousley’s car was stopped in front of him and he did not have adequate time to stop and avoid a rear-end collision. Ousley complained of pain from her seat belt but refused EMS. Damage up to $2,500.
4:36 p.m. Saturday, May 4, Rattington Circle Warsaw. Drivers: Gerardo Marroquin-Beltran, 16, West Baker Street, Warsaw; Michael E. Henderson, 27, North CR 600W, Larwill. Marroquin-Beltran told police he was backing his vehicle out of a parking space and did not notice the vehicle driven by Henderson behind him. He said his vehicle struck the rear driver’s side of Henderson’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
2:55 p.m. Friday, May 3, North Warren Street, south of West Lake Street, Warsaw. A motorist told police he parked his vehicle along the road on North Warren Drive and when he returned several hours later, his vehicle’s hood ajar signal was activated. He said he got out of the car and noticed considerable damage to the front end of his vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
