Bonnie L. Brandon
Bonnie L. Brandon, 91, Goshen, formerly of Syracuse, passed away at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, (her 91st birthday) at her daughter’s home in Elkhart. She was born April 30, 1928, in Hamilton to Dwight F. and Vera M. (Heller) Haughey.
She grew up in Hamilton, graduated in 1946 from Hamilton High School, and attended Warner Beauty School in Fort Wayne. She was married on Aug. 28, 1948, in Hamilton to Richard W. “Dick” Brandon who preceded her on Jan. 15, 2010, and lived in Syracuse 33 years before moving to Goshen in 2008. She was a homemaker and formerly employed as a clerk at Thornburg Drug Store in Syracuse for 8 years.
She was a member of the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Syracuse.
She is survived by two daughters: Dianna (Steve) Russell and Sandra (Steve) Bates both of Elkhart; a son, Gary (Karen) Brandon of Columbia City; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Donna Harger of Hamilton; Mary (John) Behler of Twinsburg, Ohio; Garst (Jill) Haughey of Hamilton
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Gratia Must, and an infant brother, Larry Haughey.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St. Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 2p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Jacob LaBounty of the Zion Missionary Church in Elkhart officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
