Julie Ann Shaw-Popenfoose
Julie Ann Shaw-Popenfoose, 55, Leesburg, passed away at 8:50 p.m., Sunday, April 28, 2019, at her home with family and friends in attendance. On Dec. 31,1963, she was born in Kendallville, to Melvin and Clara (Carroll) Shaw, Sr. She attended Warsaw Cardinal Center from 1966-1981.
She was well known for her beautiful smile, out-going handshakes, “Hey!”(s), kisses, sparkling blue mischievous eyes, love of Mickey Mouse and her stuffed animal collection. She loved her Christian music and would dance and sing to it. She loved her mom, Sissy and Doug, brothers and most of all, her Paw.
She loved well and was much loved and guarded by her dogs, Brandy, Dobie, Skipper and cousin Katie. She didn’t know a stranger and was much loved by the Wal-Mart greeters – especially Eva-Jo Blackburn; her dentists, Dr.(s) Charles and Steve Hollar and her many, many friends whom she considered family and would greet with HUGE smiles and literally light up like a Christmas tree when she saw you. The only stranger was the friend she had not yet met.
Julie Shaw-Popenfoose is survived by her mother Clara Popenfoose; her sister Christine (spouse Doug) Shenefield of Leesburg; and two brothers, Melvin (spouse Dixie) Shaw of Warsaw; and David (spouse Eva) Shaw of Melbourne, Fla. Other survivors include Aunt Pat Richmond of Goshen and Uncle Samuel Carroll of Plymouth. She was proceeded in death by her father “Paw” Paul D. Popenfoose, grandparents, two aunts, one uncle and two cousins.
Visitation hours are scheduled from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
Funeral Services that will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 2, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with calling one hour prior to the service. Pastor Brian Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
