TIPPECANOE VALLEY 4, WABASH 1
Valley posted a win against the Apaches before the rains came Saturday morning at the Wabash Invite.
Hannah Parson and Gigi Engstrand each had to go to tiebreakers to gain court wins, Parson going 10-7 in her tiebreak to beat Bella Carrillo and Engstrand 10-8 to best Isabel France.
Both Valley doubles teams were on the winning side, the team of Haley Baker and Kaitlin Neese also needed a 10-7 tiebreaker to get past Annie Cole and Evelynn Gray. Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley went the conventional 6-4, 6-2 route for its win against Cammie Kugler and Halle Miller.
Brooke Irgang gave Wabash its lone win against Mackenzie Costello.
Valley’s second contest against Whitko was washed out.
Valley (6-4) hosts Rochester Monday.
TRITON LEFT HANGING AT CONCORD
Rain was also the theme at Concord, where Triton didn’t finish its match play in the Concord Invite.
The eight-team tournament was individually based. The tournament was halted in the third stage of the bracket play.
Molly McFarland lost her matches against Concord and LaVille at No. 1 singles, Maddie Ritchison lost to Elkhart Central and was trailing to LaVille at No. 2 singles, and Ivy Powell lost to West Noble but beat LaVille at No. 3 singles.
At No. 1 doubles, Emma Hepler and Lexia Hostrawser lost to Jimtown, beat LaVille and were tied with Elkhart Central. At No. 2 doubles, Haley Hooley and Madison Davis beat LaVille and lost to Elkhart Central.
An announcement on a make-up date was not immediately announced.
Triton works again Tuesday at Knox.
NORTHWOOD PART OF DEKALB WASHOUT
Rain also halted play at the DeKalb Invite, and again, no make-up date was immediately announced.
The individually based tournament had NorthWood’s singles players get into match play, but get no further than a first round.
Reegan Miller lost to Westview 4-6, 6-1, 7-10, Alex Jesse beat Bluffton 6-2, 6-0, and Gretchen Adams beat Fort Wayne Snider 6-1, 6-0. Other action from the Invite was not completed.
NorthWood continues its whirlwind tour Monday against Bremen.
