Marabel L. See
Former Macy resident, Marabel L. See, 99 years, 6 months and 16 days departed this life at 5 a.m., Thursday, April 18, 2019, at Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw.
In Macy, on Oct. 2, 1919, Marabel Louise Clemans was born. She was the precious daughter of Marvin and Jessie Julia Miller Clemans. Growing up she shared her childhood with a brother Dwight. In 1937 she graduated from Macy High School. She went on to Manchester College to pursue her dream of teaching school.
In 1939 she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Her teaching career spanned over 33 years with teaching stints in Gilead, Macy and North Miami Schools. During these years she provided an excellent educational foundation during the early years of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades.
On Sept. 25, 1942, Marabel and Farrell Leo “Jack” See were married in Macy. They shared 21 years of life’s adventures. From their union came a wonderful son Phil. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two more generations.
She was a loyal member of the Ebeneezer United Methodist Church, Macy. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women, and the Macy’s Mother’s Club. Professionally, Marabel was a member of the Miami County Classroom Teacher’s Association, Indiana State Teacher’s Association, National Education Association and the Fulton County Retired Teachers.
Paramount in Marabel’s life was her family and extended family including neighbors and friends. Grandma was proud to oversee her legacy of three generations. She especially loved the holidays and special celebrations. At home, she joyfully walked endless miles up and down the road, fed and observed the backyard birds, maintained her beautiful flowers and meticulously mowed her lawn. To relax she enjoyed reading, watching old reruns and game shows on TV and playing bingo. Marabel was independent and orderly but always excited to join others for a new adventure.
Left to cherish Marabel’s memory are a son Philip M. See and wife Patti of Winona Lake, three grandsons; Ryan (Whitney) See, Derek (Brittany) See and Tyler See, five great-grandchildren; Greyson, Carter, McKinley, Joanna and Kaiden.
Preceding Mrs. See in death are her parents Marvin and Jessie Clemans, her beloved husband Jack See on February 24, 1963 and a brother Dwight Hetzner.
