JOHN GLENN 3, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 2
Glenn played the role of stingy host in beating visiting Tippecanoe Valley Wednesday afternoon.
Glenn won all three of its singles courts, getting straight set wins across the board. Hannah Dickinson won the battle of Hannahs, taking out Valley’s Parson 6-1, 6-4 at No.1 while Mackenzie Costello couldn’t keep pace with Abby Machnic in a 6-1, 6-2 loss at No. 2. Wrapping up the singles grid was Emma Delinski at No. 3, going 6-3, 6-0 over Gigi Engstrand.
Valley countered with two wins in doubles play. At No. 1, Makenna Bradley and Tiphanie Hodge held off Raegan Romer and Ashleigh Bolze in a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 final while Kaitlin Neese and Haley Baker outlasted Emma Romer and Olivia Vandall 7-6 (6), 7-5.
Glenn won seven of the eight JV courts, Valley getting its lone win from Chelsea Manns.
Valley, losing its second straight match, falls to 4-4 overall with its next match Friday against Maconaquah in Three Rivers Conference play.
PLYMOUTH 3, NORTHWOOD 2
NorthWood’s struggles in doubles play continued to rear its head as Plymouth claimed a key Northern Lakes Conference victory in Nappanee.
Plymouth won both doubles courts, with Mary Beatty and Audie Plothow rolling one and love over Riley Graber and Lauren Mikel. Next door, Olive Stanton and Sydni Weir posted a four and four final against Caroline Mullet and Kate Stillson.
The swing court came at No. 3 singles, where Aubrey Vervynckt won a good battle against Gretchen Adams, 7-5, 6-2.
NorthWood had its top two take court wins to continue their pace for high seeds in the NLC tournament. Reegan Miller bested Kyla Heckaman four and two at No. 1 while Alex Jesse outslugged Miranda German 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2.
NorthWood’s Abigail Vorhis won a back-and-forth JV showdown with Avery Christy in the lone Panther singles tally.
NorthWood (6-2, 3-2 NLC) hosts its third straight match Thursday against Bethany Christian.
NORTH JUDSON 4, TRITON 1
Triton dropped a key Hoosier North Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday at North Judson.
Individual results were not immediately available.
Triton (3-5, 1-3 HNAC) stays in conference Thursday for a matchup at home against LaVille.
