NORTHWOOD PANTHERS 108, WAWASEE 38
NorthWood’s boys track and field team handed host Wawasee a lopsided Northern Lakes Conference loss in Syracuse Wednesday.
The Panthers won all but four events at the meet and swept the top three spots in the 400 meters, both hurdles races, the pole vault and the long jump.
Tyler Evers was a winner in the 1600 meters, the 4×400 — alongside Jacob Mischelen, Nick Bean and Bronson Yoder — and the 4×800 — with Sam Schlatter, Carson Martin and Brady Hunsberger — while Yoder was a winner in the long jump and the 4×4. Knight won the 200 meters and was a winner with Jerson Sanchez, Veshon Malone and Tanner Feenstra in the 4×100 relay, while Brock Lehman won the 400, Brad Demitruck claimed top honors in the pole vault, and Garrett Anglemeyer outdistanced the field in the discus.
For Wawasee, Karlson Hand won the 3200 meters, where the Warriors earned a one-two finish, while Isiah Tipping won the shot put, Luke Griner won the 800 meters, and John Konieczny took first in the high jump.
WARSAW TIGERS 81, GOSHEN 51; WARSAW 77, CONCORD 55; CONCORD 67, GOSHEN 65
Warsaw’s boys track team beat both Goshen and Concord by handy margins in a Northern Lakes Conference triangular Wednesday.
The Tigers ended up winning just seven of the varsity events, but earned a one-two-three sweep in the vault, and one-two finishes in both throwing events.
Nick Bazzoni, Hunter Metzger and Jack May finished in order in one through three in the vault, Kyle Dawson and Nick Miller finished one-two, respectively, in the discus, and Miller and Henry Wagoner placed first and second, respectively, in the shot put.
Alijah Wade finished first in the 200-meter dash and in the 4×100 with John Culbertson, Mason Matz and Jayton Brock. Tanner Stiver finished first in the 800 meters, and Sam Lechlitner paced the 1600-meter field.
CULVER MILITARY ACADEMY 85, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 52, CASTON 30
Tippecanoe Valley’s boys track team split a three-way meet with host Culver Military and Caston in Culver Tuesday night.
Alek Mikel was barely beaten out for a first place in the 400 with a time of 55.27. Matthew Howes ran a personal record of 4:57 in the mile to place second behind a strong Caston distance program.
Dawson Perkins took first in the high jump, clearing 5’8”, followed by Justin Peconga in second. Wade Melanson claimed first in shot put with a throw of 42’2”, and Jon Humes wasn’t far behind in third place. The Vikings also took first and second in shot with Brant Alber taking first at 107.5’ and Brant Norris second at 101.10’.
The Vikings return to action on Friday at the John Glenn Invitationals.
CULVER GIRLS ACADEMY 110, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 37, CASTON 14
Valley’s girls split their triangular with Culver Girls Academy and Caston in Culver Tuesday.
The Lady Vikings were fighting through injuries but still had a strong showing in the 400 with Sophie Bussard taking second in 1:05.76. Gabby Olson claimed third place in both the 100 and 300 hurdles. Olivia Smith took top honors in the high jump with a 4’6″ clearance. Sidney Wagner jumped to a third in long jump, and Taylor Biddle also grabbed a third in shot.
Valley track is back in action on Friday at the Glenn Invitationals.
