Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
6:31 a.m. Monday, April 22, East CR 750N, west of North CR 200E, Warsaw. Driver: Kristopher E. Tom, 38, East Armstrong Road, Leesburg. Tom told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on CR 750N when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
1:59 a.m. Sunday, April 21, North SR 15, north of West CR 600N, Leesburg. Driver: Michael A. Heady, 37, West Main Street, Warsaw. Heady told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 15 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
9:02 p.m. Friday, April 19, South SR 15, south of West Union Street, Warsaw. Driver: Bonnie S. Hall, 75, South Caldwell Lake Drive, Claypool. Hall told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on SR 15 when a deer entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
10:21 a.m. Friday, April 19, West CR 400N, west of North CR 200W, Warsaw. Driver: Dennis R. Mason, 37, North 3rd Place, Leesburg. Mason told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on CR 400 when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. He was not injured. Damage up to $10,000.
7:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, East CR 225S, west of South CR 275E, Warsaw. Driver: Eric F. Ortiz, 43, Lake John Circle, Winona Lake. Ortiz told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on CR 225S when he fell asleep, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and strike three mailboxes. Damage up to $2,500.
Milford
Officers from the Milford Police Department investigated the following accident:
6:22 p.m. Thursday, April 18, North CR 300E, north of East CR 1300N, Syracuse. Driver: Miranda L. Shively, 23, Winchester Trails, Goshen. Shively told police she heard a noise from inside her vehicle and took her eyes off the road, causing her vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a utility pole. Shively complained of chest and mouth pain, but declined transport to a hospital. Damage up to $10,000.
Silver Lake
Officers from the Silver Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:47 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, North Jefferson Street, Silver Lake. Driver: Kelsey I. Wadkins, 28, West Shutt Avenue, Silver Lake. Police reported that Watkins was backing her vehicle out of the Silver Lake Police Department parking lot when she backed her vehicle into a parked car. Police said that due to an odor of alcohol, Watkins was tested at the scene and then taken for certified tests of her blood alcohol, which revealed a result of .11. Damage up to $25,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
1:21 p.m. Sunday, April 21, East Center Street and North Park Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Mark A. Hoppus, 35, East CR 225S, Warsaw; Joan E. Ragan, 62, Lyon Street, Warsaw. Hoppus told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on Center Street and that the vehicle driven by Ragan was in front of him and beginning a turn. He said he thought she would make the turn quicker, but that she stopped to make the turn and a rear-end collision ensued. Damage up to $2,500.
8:47 a.m. Sunday, April 21, West Center Street and South Hand Avenue, Warsaw. Driver: Quiroga Medina, 20, West Old Road 30, Warsaw. Medina told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on Center Street when his nose began to bleed. As he attempted to stop the bleeding with a towel, his vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Damage up to $5,000.
10:19 p.m. Saturday, April 20, Lake City Highway, east of CR 250E, Warsaw. Drivers: Tristan A. Yount, 22, South Packerton Road, Winona Lake; Trevor S. Gilbert, 23, West SR 14, South Whitley. Both drivers told police they were driving their vehicles eastbound on Lake City Highway and that Yount’s vehicle struck the rear of Gilbert’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, Husky Trail, south of East Mariners Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Jonathan J. Brewer, 29, East Locust Street, Chrisney; Robert Miles, 58, Dunham Road, Downers Grove, Ill. Miles told police he was in his vehicle, awaiting an opening for him to enter the Husky Trail roundabout when his vehicle was struck from the rear by Brewer’s vehicle, which fled the scene. Police reported that Brewer was involved in a single vehicle accident later and was apprehended. Damage less than $750. In the second accident involving Brewer, damage was estimated at up to $10,000. That accident occurred near the same location at 1:45 p.m.
12:21 a.m. Saturday, April 20, East Winona Avenue, south of South Bronson Street, Warsaw. Driver: Travis A. Fogus, 31, South CR 250W, North Judson; Justin M. Braden, 27, South CR 250E, Warsaw. Focus told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on Bronson Street and that he stopped at an intersection with a flashing red light. He said he did not see any cross traffic and proceeded into the intersection, when his vehicle struck the vehicle driven by Braden. Damage up to $25,000.
7:30 a.m. Friday, April 19, Lake City Highway, east of Meijer Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Thomas J. Jasper, 70, Monument Drive, Fort Wayne. Jasper told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on Lake City Highway when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
2:03 p.m. Thursday, April 18, West CR 300N and North SR 15, Warsaw. Drivers: Kimberly A. Brown, 58, South SR 13, Warsaw; Kathleen A. Layer, 47, North Street, Logansport. Brown told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on CR 300 when the vehicle driven by Layer stopped without her knowledge, causing a rear-end collision. Damage up to $2,500.
11:46 a.m. Thursday, April 18, South Sherman Street, Warsaw. Police said a vehicle registered to Nicole R. Marsillett, South Side Drive, Warsaw, was witnessed as having struck a fence and garbage cans in an alley. The witness told police the vehicle turned around and fled the scene. Police reported finding the vehicle unoccupied on Argonne Road. The vehicle was towed. Damage less than $750. Police said the same vehicle was involved in a second accident, in which the driver of the vehicle left the scene. In that collision, James A. Reinholt, 52, CR 37, Syracuse, told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on Bronson Street and was stopped at an intersection when his vehicle was rear-ended by the Marsillett vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Winona Lake
Officers from the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
5:34 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, Argonne Road, north of Kings Highway, Warsaw. Driver: Kumar Sharma, 51, Levine Court, Brampton, Ontario. Police said Sharma was driving a semi tractor and trailer southbound on Argonne Road when the trailer struck the viaduct, causing damage. Damage up to $2,500.
