WARSAW – Warsaw senior defensive end Jaxon Wagoner has selected to attend Trine University and play football for the Thunder this coming fall.
Wagoner was a frequent visitor to the opponents’ backfield this past fall as one of the leaders for the stingy Warsaw defense in sacks (2) and tackles for loss (2). Wagoner was also in on 48 tackles, 14 of them solo.
A two year starter for the Tigers, Wagoner led the team in sacks (3.5) his junior year, added 30 total tackles, and this past season was twice named Defensive Player of the Week by the Warsaw staff.
A dual-sport athlete, Wagoner is captain for the Warsaw track and field program’s throwers. This past year, Wagoner was awarded the Ironman Award and the Dawn Patrol Award for perfect training attendance and outstanding leadership and performance.
While Wagoner has disrupted his opponents plans on Friday nights, he has helped many community service organizations with their missions throughout his high school career. Wagoner has served with Feed My Starving Children, the Baker Youth Club, the NFL Flag Football League, and he volunteers at Presby Preschool.
Wagner has also been a tremendous success in the classroom as well, earning Scholar Athlete status. Entering his final semester at WCHS, Wagoner is uncertain of his college major at this time. He will join the Thunder football program this summer. Trine is a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the NCAA III.
