Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:
2:19 p.m. Sunday, April 14, South CR 250E, west of East Pierceton Road, Winona Lake. Drivers: Skylar A. Stahl, 19, South Never Drive, Silver Lake; Riley A. Arvanitis, 24, Park Avenue, Winona Lake; Jacob D. Metzger, 25, East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. According to police, Arvanitis, a police officer, attempted to make a traffic stop of Stahl, who refused to stop, causing a pursuit to ensue. The pursuit left the roadway and continued onto Stonehenge Golf Course. During the pursuit, police were forced to run over a fence and eventually made the stop when Metzger’s vehicle came to rest against Stahl’s vehicle. Stahl was arrested at the scene. Damage up to $10,000.
Silver Lake
Officers from the Silver Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:51 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, West SR 14, east of CR 600W, Silver Lake. Driver: April R. Combs, 42, South Pine Street, Akron. Combs told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on SR 14 when a deer entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Syracuse
Officers from the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
12:15 p.m. Friday, April 12, East Bowser Road, south of South Huntington Street, Syracuse. Drivers: Ernesto A. Vuittonet, 30, East Benton Street, Syracuse; Kurt A. Kammerer, 37, East CR 700N, Leesburg. Police reported that both drivers were traveling southbound on Huntington Street and that Vuittonet was driving his vehicle behind Kammerer. According to the report, Vuittonet did not see Kammerer’s vehicle slow down to make a turn, causing a rear-end collision. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
9:36 p.m. Sunday, April 14, North Sunset Drive, south of Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Driver: Judy J. Pennington, 66, Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Pennington told police she was driving her vehicle northbound on Sunset Drive and that she was having difficulty seeing due to heavy snow. She said her vehicle left the roadway on a curve and struck a tree. Pennington told police she would go to the hospital on her own to be evaluated. Damage up to $25,000.
7:29 p.m. Sunday, April 14, Springhill Road, Warsaw. Edward A. Stachulak told police that a vehicle struck his mail box, valued at $300. Damage up to $5,000.
5:15 p.m. Sunday, April 14, East Center Street and US 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Sherri S. Albertson, 62, North Koher Road, Syracuse; Tiffany N. Cook, 23, West River Road, Albion. Albertson told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on Center Street and was on the on ramp for US 30. She said she looked to her left for traffic as she prepared to merge and when she looked back to the road, Cook’s vehicle was stopped in front of her. She was unable to avoid a rear-end collision. Damage up to $2,500.
1:49 p.m. Saturday, April 13, North Parker Street, south of Dubois Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Bianca B. Baker, 20, Kings Court Extended, Winona Lake; Andrew D. Alcala, 31, Lilac Lane, Warsaw. Baker told police she was driving her vehicle from Dubois Drive to North Parker Street and noticed Alcala turning his vehicle into the Lassus station. She said she was unable to slow her car in time to avoid a rear end collision. Damage up to $5,000.
10:08 a.m. Saturday, April 13, East US 30, west of South CR 250E, Warsaw. Drivers: Katheryn I. Heeter, 44, Lake City Highway, Warsaw; Telesforo S. Garcia, 81, Stonebridge Road, Warsaw. Heeter told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on on US 30 and did not see Garcia’s vehicle next to hers when she turned sharply to the left, causing her vehicle to collide with Garcia’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
4:26 p.m. Friday, April 12, Center Street and South Wood Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Alaina D. Zink, 33, Edgeknoll Lane, Fort Wayne; Adam T. Howard, 22, East Main Street, Warsaw. Police reported that Zink was driving her vehicle on South Wood Street and observed an officer drive by, but did not see Howard’s vehicle behind the police car. According to the report, Zink then turned onto Center Street and into the path of Howard’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
2:47 p.m. Friday, April 12, Argonne Road and East Market Street, Warsaw. Driver: Andrew A. French, 55, Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake. According to police reports, French stated he was fatigued from work and fell asleep as he neared the intersection. His vehicle left the roadway and struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle in an apartment complex parking lot. Damage up to $5,000.
