Dewart Lake Church Hosts Annual Eggs-travaganza
DEWART LAKE — Dewart Lake Community Friends Church will host its fifth annual Eggs-travaganza from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 13. The family-friendly event will take place at Quaker Haven Camp, 91 EMS D16C Lane, Syracuse.
The event will feature an age-specific Easter egg hunt with more than 1,600 plastic eggs at 10 a.m., followed by several children’s activities:
• cooking decorating table
• photo booth with props and costumes — photos will be e-mailed after the event
• decoupage egg table, decorating plastic eggs with paper squares
• indoor bowling
• an area to build with boxes
• paper bunny bookmarks
Also included are snacks and a prize drawing of several storybook Bibles and other items.
“The egg hunt will start in the chapel for a welcome and short presentation,” said Dan Burnham, co-pastor of the church.
“From there we will release kids by their respective age groups and a guide take them to their area,” he said. “The camp has been sectioned off into different age groups to make sure everyone has a chance to find lots of eggs.
“We will then announce when the hunt begins and the kids can go crazy with the eggs. After that, there will be a place to empty their eggs — we try to keep the shells — and then head on into the dining hall for all the activities. There is a registration for the prize draw and the photo booth.
“The only thing families need to do to prepare is to have a big bag for the eggs and come to have fun,” said Burnham.
“Free family fun can be hard to come by these days. Dewart Lake Friends wants to provide an opportunity to our community to come and enjoy a morning together free of charge. It is just one of the ways we show the free love that Christ offers everyone.”
